High School Umpire Uniform Standards
The New Jersey State Federation of Umpires is dedicated to serving the Greater Middlesex Conference and surrounding conferences, for both baseball and softball. In order to maintain the Federation's integrity and consistency in umpiring, all uniform information can be found below. Please note, the black uniform is preferred for baseball.
Mandatory Softball Uniform

Powder blue sublimated shirt shall be worn for all high school games.

Heather Grey slacks - No Charcoal grey

White undergarment, not to exceed the sleeve of the uniform shirt

Black shoes

Black socks

Navy Blue hat

Black belt

Ball bags shall be navy or heather grey, with a recommendation of navy

Jackets should be Navy Blue with Powder Blue shoulder stripes.

It is recommended that officials only wear the long sleeve uniform behind the plate. If the plate umpire is wearing a jacket or long sleeve shirt, then the field umpire should wear a jacket. Short sleeve shirts with a long sleeve shirt underneath should not be worn.

Mandatory Baseball Uniform

Black, navy, or light blue NJSIAA sublimated shirts shall be worn for all high school games. Black is preferred for varsity.

Charcoal Grey slacks - NO heather grey

Undergarments: navy blue uniform = navy blue shirt, black uniform = black shirt, light blue uniform = navy blue shirt

Black shoes

Black socks

Navy blue or black hat; the cap should match your shirt. NJSIAA logo hat is preferred for varsity

Black belt

Jackets must be navy blue or black with or without the NJSIAA emblem

Ball Bags shall match the color of your shirt; either navy blue or black
